I nearly got scammed too...lol. I got a voucher for a free induction cooker, plus a food steamer for using my Citibank CC. But I must buy a vacuum cleaner for 7,900,000 rupiah which is RM3000.00. I walked away...I know those prices I can get all three for a lot cheaper. And for the voucher, they will cancel it the moment I walk away..

At least, normal na. I bet, umuusok ang tenga ng kapatid mo nung nde siya maka login. Mukhang nagka problema nga sila sa mga accounts but not exactly due to the layout change. Siguro it's because of the impending change on terms of service ng FB.

I kind of agree with you. I liked Facebook, but sooner or later, malalaos din. In my case, I have an account so that I could connect with friends. Hindi rin ako masyadong naglalaro doon; I think playing games there is just a waste of time.

Yes, Reesie! Total waste of time talaga. mo na lang na parang tamagotchi yang mga facebook apps na yan na thousand of times more addicting(at enjoyable naman). But hell, sobrang makapag waste ng time.

In the office, I see some people na sobra talaga pagka addict na they have active window all the time for facebook. And in the meetings, you'll see people bringing laptops with them and kapag boring ang usapan, facebook na naman. Patago siyempre. So mas lalo na sa mga training sessions. Normal sa office namin na dala ang laptop kahit saan magpunta even before these apps. So parang normal lang talaga pero wag ka't ang binabantayan ay yung pag-harvest sa FarmTown!

(Un)fortunately, my work has effectively wiped facebook-addiction from my system. No more time for fb and for blogging. But now that we have internet at home again, I can forgo sleep in favor of my blog again. haha!

I didn't know about the commenter who's blaming Cabral for the death of his mother. That's insane!

One thing I am sure though - Cabral lacks leadership and/or initiative on how to disseminate those goods. She may not be hoarding them, but she did not do anything to make the distribution faster. Just my two cents worth. :D

We all agree that there are corrupt officials in the government. But let's say Gloria is corrupt, does it mean that all the people in the government are corrupt? And even if they are corrupt, do we honestly believe that deliberately want the affected people to die? Wala na ba sila puso at kaluluwa? I know some politicians na sagad sa buto ang pagka corrupt pero may puso pa din eh.

Clearly, the post got out of hand. A lot of people got angry with DSWD. I forgot the name of one commenter who lost his mother. But he is now cursing and blaiming Dr. Cabral for the death of her mother. Do you think she died because Dr. Cabral failed to deliver the relief goods? No, right? At the local level, it is the local government that runs the social welfare. Not the national agency. Even Ella agrees and she actually appealed to that person not to blame Dr. Cabral(post already deleted). But damage has been done.

Now, Ella is doing some kind damage control. But just a couple of days ago, she's asking all her readers to spread the word about her juicy scoop. She got it beyond what she wanted. It even brought down her server. It got sensationalized by Saksi and before you know it, it's a national issue. And then now, she claims that she doesn't have any malicious intent? That she's just a blogger?

So yeah, we really have to be careful. The power of technology is enormous and with power comes responsibility. Why? Because there's a lot of people out there who don't even care to know if what they are reading is true (case in point, a lot of people still believe that articles of deejay in goodtimesmanila is true). As long as the post is controversial enough, they'll buy it.

But at least, Ella already removed the posts and what you'll see is her damage control post. In the case of the other blogger I mentioned (but did not mention the name), it's still there. He even posted the same in another site. And oh, how can I forget a prominent socialite blogger who insinuated that Ted Failon killed his wife? She never said sorry to Ted. And I would like to believe that at the back of their heads, she and her supporters still believe that it is Ted who killed his wife.

In the end, we become the person we are attacking. That's the really sad part of it. And yes, I am also guilty of this at times.

This goes to show that Filipinos, including Ella of course, do not trust the government, in this case DSWD. With all the corruptions going on, I can't blame her to think that way. Her allegations might not be true, but one must admit that the lack of volunteers is not enough reason why millions of relief goods are not given to people in need of them. Why does DSWD rely on volunteers? Alam na nilang kulang bakit hindi sila humanap ng paraan. I agree with Ella's suggestions though -- used the army or better yet, hire people to pack these goods.

I recently received a phone call from Hannah Fernandez representing the International Export Corporation telling me that we won a prize because apparently our receipt/proof of purchase of our new refrigerator was picked out of "thousands of entries" via electronic raffle.

I was urged to pick up our "free gift" as soon as possible, if not on the day itself at Homesonic Appliances in Starmall. She gave me a PIN as some sort of authentication procedure. However she told me I couldn't pick it up myself because I was underage (23 years old is underage?), and the person claiming the prize should be at least 28 years old.

Needless to say I was really annoyed and after giving short, one-word responses to her annoying questions (I can be incredibly bitchy when I want to be), I went online and found out that it's part of a scam. When you claim your prize, you are expected to shell out money to buy overpriced things you don't even want or need.

The following day, when Hannah called asking if we were planning to claim our free prize, my dad chewed her out. Fun.

Apparently it's still in operation, even if the DTI claims that it shut down the store and has formally filed charges. Not just in Manila, even in as far away as Laguna, Homesonic is there.

Even though everything was said and done, Fr Thomas should still make a public apology to all Filipinos for his "uncalled for" sermon. He should apologize in the 1130am Mass too so that the Church goers of that time will know that what he did was very un-Christian. He failed in all the teachings of Christ...first is to love God above all and second, love your neighbor as yourself. How can you say you love God if you do not love or show concern for your neighbor?

I can't believe that he has been ordained as a priest. His lack of wisdom does not befit him to wear those robes and lead mass. I'm sad that it happened. But what can we do? Stooping to his level and hate him would not be the Christian way. As what he should have done, let's offer our prayers instead that he may shed his selfishness and grow in wisdom. Perhaps this incident is one of his learning curves. To those who laughed, I pray you may never experience what happened to manila in your lifetime. Yes there is a big difference between the Philippines and Singapore. And that is Filipinos are more resilient to adversity.
